True... kinda.

Glock offers a substantial discount on it's "Blue Label" pistols to those who qualify.

Regular/White Label pistols cannot be sold at blue prices, and blue labels can't be sold a retail.

Further, demand is higher than supply for many popular models, so don't be surprised if there is a wait list for the model you want. I placed my name on several lists for a Gen 4 G19, and all places called me back within a few weeks. Not horrible, IMO, given the proximity to an election and the discount received.

Also, Champion is not the only store participating in this promotion. There's a thread floating around from when I was trying to source my pistol that lists several different options - but I can't seem to find it now.

...of course, this only matters if you want a Glock.

Beretta offers a $50 rebate if you sent in LEO or Military credentials.

Smith and Wesson also offers a military discount on most firearms.

Champion does not offer a discount to my knowledge.

Most military exchanges (that sell firearms) will price match a brick and mortar store price. You could get a print-out of a lower price at a firearms store and then have the military exchange order the firearm and sell it to you at that lower price. It is a bit more work and there is usually a wait as the in-store inventory at the exchanges are usually low, but it allows you to save the sales tax amount.

The great texas gun company on hwy 21 will match champion prices. They get things when champion can't and faster. At least this has been my experience. They even have matched the brenham gun store and internet prices and discounts if I asked. They work very hard to earn and keep your business. Great customer service as well. I used to feel the same way about champions a long time ago, but after a few incidents, don't really care to shop there anymore.

For those wondering about the incidents, I was told on a 600 dollar gun that had a wallered out and crooked swivel stud that it was the best I could expect for the money and that's just the way they come sometimes. I was also tried to be convinced a gun with smashed up checkering, that it wasn't a big deal and would shoot just fine and that the checkering on those guns is always like that and I should still buy it anyway. Also, I asked to order a gun and they said they could get one but wouldn't give me a rough estimate of when I could expect it (I was looking for 6 month to a year type estimate) but would still be happy to take my credit card number. Yeah, I bet. When I politely declined, I was rudely and sarcastically told if they couldn't get one, no one could. I bought the gun locally and had it in my hands two days later.

I'm sure these could have been very isolated occurances, but that's just been my luck of the draw with the local gun places.

Champion has always been great to me and usually has really good prices. I would recommend them highly.

If you have problems like above make sure you bring it to the manager's attention and I bet they correct the problem.

jeremy, would you care to elaborate?

What was the $600 gun?

What was the gun that had smashed checkering?

What was the gun you were trying to order? Where did you buy it 2 days later?

Marlin 45-70 1895 Stainless. Smashed checkering one time. Cross drilled and installed stud the second time.

-Not champions fault for the messed up gun, but please dont try to persuade me to buy a damaged gun.

Ended up getting it from gander. Gander price matched champion (surprisingly enough). This was when gander first opened, they wont do anything for price now and are high on everything, but thats not news.

The one they were ready to take the credit card on was a Ruger Mark III hunter bull bbl in stainless, but wouldn't give a rough estimate of delivery.

-No problem if you cant get the gun. Heck, not even a problem if you don't know a delivery date. Im not even concerned if you were to flat out tell me the availablility is tough right now and that Champions is most likely the one who can get it here the fastest. However, don't tell me in a smart a$$ tone "good luck finding one, if we can't get it, no one else can". Because that's exactly what I did.

Theres been other things from me and people I know (which I am always skeptical of what other people say), however these were just a few first hand experiences I have had. Your results may vary.

I have given the same amount of business that I used to give to Champion and have used the great texas gun company. I have had 100% good dealings with them. I had always liked Champions until the occurences happened fairly often and close together.

By no stretch am I saying Champions is a bad company or to not buy from them. Im simply stating I have had better experiences and as a personal preference like other places better, especially when those places will price match Champions.

were you buying used and expecting a new gun?

The "smashed checkering" sounds like somebody didn't like it tearing up their hands. Recently marlin has had smoother checkering. A very welcome change from the rasp of a stock they put on their 336s in the late 90s

What do you mean by cross drilled? was there a hole drilled sideways through the bore?

Buying new, expecting new.

The swivel stud was in the buttstock. The hole was drilled out too big and the stud was installed in the hole crooked. Think of a peg going into the side of an oval hole. You could stick the end of a ball point pen down in beside the gap of the stud. Hard to explain, but again, that was marlins fault.

The checkering looked about like someone had smashed it in with the side of a 7/8" deep socket for lack of better terms. It was only on one side in one spot. I was not how all the checkering was. Looked like maybe damage in shipping or before it was put into the box.

Then that is Champion's problem how?

I already stated not their fault the gun was jacked up from the factory. Keep up Stoney. However, they were still trying to convince me to buy it with it obviously flaws and damages.

Itd be like buying a new car with big dents already in it.

You're on an uphill battle without pictures.

The three Marlin rifles I bought from Champion were pristine. (883, 60, 1895CB)

The 883 had an ejection issue, but Champion happily sent it back to Marlin for warranty repair. Flawless ever since.

The other 6 had nary a flaw, but two were special order.

No pics. No battles. No worries. Nothing to prove or justify...carry on.
