You can get some knuckle at Harry's. Had it there several times. Very tender.

Apparently it's not common knowledge that you can't buy wild game meat.

High-fenced exotic moose from Central Texas?

Is it legal to sell meat from wild animals?

Many people falsely believe that it is illegal to sell meat from wild (not farmed) animals. The correct assertion is that it is illegal to sell meat from any animal that has not passed inspection by a government meat inspector. However, the only way to harvest a wild animal in the field so that it can pass inspection is to take a government inspector out of the plant and into the field with you. Well, that's exactly what we do. More information can be found in our articles about our field harvest technique and unique wild game meat inspection requirements.

Kind of. While in tx, that applies to native game species, you at least used to be able to buy the non native species.

Whole Foods used to carry Black Buck and a few other species. If someone was raising moose in TX, I would assume the same rules would apply.

You also might try these guys ...

Those guys aren't selling native wild game meat. They are selling farmed meat that has been processed in a USDA inspected facility. Yes, the deer may be "wild" but they are still exotics raised in a high fenced area. The "elk" is probably red deer, the "antelope" is either nilgai or blackbuck, and the wild boar is wild hogs that were probably trapped and shipped to a slaughterhouse.

2nd Pete's. You can get kangaroo if you are so inclined.

Can be pricey, but the quality is top notch.

I just wanted to quote this, because let's face it - this is simply an awesome statement.

I've been tempted, but never bought. Some of the stuff they have in there looks beyond awesome, but they are proud of it.

They make a solid hamburger there though for lunch, and their buffalo burger is my favorite.
