Does anyone have a DPMS AR-10? I'm looking at the Recon and MK12 and would like to get an opinion from anyone that has a DPMS AR-10. What other AR-10's would you recommend for around the same price? LaRue is no doubt the best, but I would like to keep my total under $2M for rifle and scope.

I have a dpms lr308 sporticle. I really like it and haven't had any problems. They have a pretty good reputation. Might be easier to make a recommendation if you split your budget into rifle and optics bucket. If I had $2k I'd probably get the basic rifle for around $1000 and put an acog on top for another $1000

$1500 for gun and $500 for optics. Mainly looking for something to effectively shoot out to 400 yards and later add night vision.

I've got an DPMS LR308L but I haven't shot it yet. Seems to be a good gun, from what I've read it's the best in it's price range.

I originally bought the sportical, but after realizing how heavy it is even with the short (16") barrel, I traded up to an 18" heavy barrel and never looked back. This will never be a light gun, so might as well get the full potential of the .308's ballistics.

I want an AR in .308 and have pretty much decided on the DPMS Mk12, so this kind of feedback is good news to me.

I remeber 2008 or so when the REAL AR-10 guys would get their panties all in a wad after a DPMS was called 'AR10'... I guess the only real difference between them is the 'clips'...

I bought the DPMS LR 308 SASS package 3 years ago, no problems, accurate, and fun to shoot. Sucker is HEAVY when you get all the zombie accessories and a semiful mag on it though. It is not a handy, pitch in the mule, ranch gun.

Only issue I've had (this is my first and only AR so far) is when suppressed, there's a significant fouling issue back into the breech/ magazine. Magazine shells appear dirty after a few rounds before being shot. This only happens with a supressor on it. Otherwise runs clean. Really interested in the POF/LMT piston models to stop/help with this.

LMT is way more than I want to spend.

Would there be a significant difference in ballistics between the 16" and 18" barrel?

While off subject, FD, how did you procure your supressor? I've been toying around with buying one, but don't know that I want to fool around with all the paper work. There is always the trust method, and I'd like to hear from someone that has done it via the trust.

There are WAY more inexpensive ways, but I set up a firearms trust and did it that way. With it I can place other valuables in it, all of my guns etc are in it. There are those on this board with WAY more enlightenment on this subject than I.

I have the DPMS LR-308 and love it. I have an aimpoint Comp M4 with a cheap 5X magnfyer on top of it and its done great with whatever I wanted of it so far.

Ha! I was one who caught hell because I called a DPMS .308 and AR-10....

What kind of accuracy can you expect out of the DPMS, 1-1.5" at 100 yards?

I have a DPMS 308, I believe it is the 308T model...been awhile and haven't had many opportunities to shoot it. 18" heavy barrel.

I got the most basic version...no dust cover,no forward assist.

With factory ammo (federal 168 BTHP's), Super Sniper 10x42, stock trigger (it is HEAVY), I've shot 5 shot groups at 100 yards that can be covered by a quarter.

The furthest I've taken it out is 650 yards. Shooting at steel human silhouette targets, I could consistenly hit the head of the target at that range.

And that same round puts a hurtin' on hogs...and turns the inside of a coyote to mush if you hit them head on in the chest.

Dang that's some shooting!

I'm pretty confident on pigs out to 200yrds, but the quarters are pretty safe!

It sounds like you need an adjustable gas block to cut down on the pressure on the DI system. Your gas pressures will run high on a suppressed system compared to the same setup unsuppressed,so you need to dial the pressure back a little.

Rock River LAR-8 is awesome. Suppressed it gets dirty VERY quickly. I've shot 500 yards at an 18" plate and hit every single time. I know it's not an incredible thing, but it was effortless. That is with a 4x12 scope.

Their at-10s are decent with good accuracy. The only bad thing about ar10's in general is the lack of parts...

If you are considering used, there is a DPMS LR308 listed on texashuntingforum.com. 100 rounds through it for $950.00. I have a RRA LAR 8 and love it. I bought it off the same forum.
