Does any one have any experience using a charcoal/propane combo grill? If so, how do you like it? I'm thinking about buying my dad one but wanted to hear some feedback from those who use one. My dad has always been a charcoal grill guy. He was always had just a regular pit but since he lives in south Texas with the temperatures so high and he just turned 70 I was thinking about getting him one with propane so that he wont have to stand outside preparing the pit so long. Also I think since its just him and my mom living together maybe he will grill more with a propane grill since it is quick.

I was looking online at a couple of grills from different places and found a few. What are yalls thoughts on these three?

I had one and loved it. WIfe loves gas cause its easy and quick. I prefer charcoal. For a mess of dogs and burgers for a summer afternoon with the kids the gas side works perfect. For steaks and such the charcoal is my choice.
Like every grill I've owned it rusted out after about 4 years in Houston weather.

^ditto^

Had mine for 3-4+ years and bought it lowes when it was on clearance for $150. It's held together through 3 moves and different climates. Bi don't know the brand but I always use mesquite and/or charcoal on mine. Never used gas

thanks for the responses... Is the little smoker on the side of some of those worth it? Are they able to cook a decent brisket or ribs?

I have the one with the offset smoker. Does good with smoking stuff. I have the Chargriller model. I have made a few mods to make the smoking better. The only drawback is the round smoker box, I would prefer square to cook beans, etc on top of. If I were to buy another I would get the one at Tractor supply. The gas burner on the side makes for starting charcoal in a jiffy with a chimney starter.

The pit from academy looks like the best. Should give your dad lots of options.
