Any of ya'll hunt lake lewisville (ducks, dove, quail, turkey, pigs)? I recently discovered a COE hunting property less than a mile from my house and now I want to see what I can find...

i'm sure if folks here do hunt it, they'd love to discuss about it openly here.

Just post GPS coordinates, that's all I demand!

But seriously, I am really more curious about access, can I just go walk around/scout out there without the permit (they are out of hunting permits...)

if anyone would like to offer advice privately you can email me at texagsoutdoors (at) gmail

Been years since I have done this, but you should be able to get a map showing you access etc and what you can hunt.

since it is in the metroplex it will get hammered non stop.

Go over to Mill St. near Lake Park and get a permit from the USACE office there. You can hunt near Ray Roberts, Lewisville and Grapevine for free if you have the permit and the parking pass. Be sure the parking permit is visible.

They usually limit it to around 45 so be sure to call.

I've hunted ducks on the North side of Ray Roberts, mainly gadwalls and mallards; North side of Lewisville, mainly mallards; teal and gadwalls at Grapevine on the far West side near 377.

There is also some public hunting land up near the City of Denton. I've seen some big deer taken out of there with a bow.

Ray Roberts is USACE, but it's administered by TPWD. Need to have the APH Permit to hunt there.

Log is correct. I edited my prior post to read "near" Ray Roberts.

Get your permit from the USACE office and they'll have the hunting areas designated as well as the entry points. Plus, the guy in Lewisville at the USACE office is an Aggie.

The Aggie I met that worked there is no longer listed on the page.

Just to clarify, I asked them about permits for 2011-12, so that I could go shoot some rabbits and squirrels... they were out of those and haven't begun handing out the 12-13...

I went out there tonight and learned that people like to dump trash and my impreza doesn't have the ground clearance I wish it did

If you are going to hunt public land in the metromess be ready to get there earlier, walk further, hunt harder than anyone else. Be willing to trek to waters that no one else will. Unless you want to be right.next to every other hunter on the lake.
