I have a small group of okra that was doing pretty well until something started eating it. My friends grandfather recommended I use sevin dust. I found a bunch of it that may parents used to use on their rose bushes but for some reason they cant explain to me how to use it. I googled it and I read that I could put it in a baby powder dispenser. Any suggestions?

Just sprinkle it around in a cup or big spoon, no biggie. Its like baby powder so cost your plants w/ it!

Mason jar with holes punched in the lid.

Growing up my dad would sprinkle that stuff on everything. Cows, dogs, kids, etc...

Thanks for the help. I ended up putting it in a dixie cup with about 2 dozen tiny cuts in the bottom of it and a napkin on top to keep the dust from going everywhere.

My wife pours the dust into a panty hose leg and then waves it all over the plant and it gets everywhere it touches.

Man up and grab it in your hand and sprinkle it on the plants.

Only half kidding, it's pretty benign stuff.

Grew up in the middle of the woods. We bought that stuff to coat the dogs with on almost a weekly basis. Kept the ticks and fleas away like nobody's business.

We just used our hands to rub it/sprinkle it on the dogs. Seems like we used it on the garden too from time to time but I can't remember if the parentals had a certain way of spreading it or not.

very few things chomp okra. if it is just the leaves and not a significant number of the pods, I would let it be. the plants will most likely grow out of it and you won't have to be concerned with the carbaryl being on the pods when you harvest.
