Can I carry my pistol to this casino and stow in the room safe? If so, any unusual differences to watch out for or any other advice? Thanks.

i remember something being posted on TexasCHLForum about a guy getting pulled over in Louisiana and some differences in the way the cop handled the stop.

I'm too lazy to look for you, but it's a pretty good resource, regardless.

They don't even know their own laws. I've called a bunch of different police departments and even casino security. All I can get is that the casinos make exceptions sometimes for CHL and law enforcement, but you need to call them before hand and clear it.

The casino is on tribal land which is a sovereign nation. Your CHL (and a Louisiana CHL) is not valid on any tribal land. In general, firearms are not allowed on any tribal land in the US.

If you want to carry a firearm, you need to contact the tribal police department for approval.

Below is the Coushatta Tribe's law on firearms. In this instance, "specific government approval" means tribal government, not state government.

quote:
3.5.1 Carrying Concealed Dangerous Weapons:

A person who carries, concealed about his or her person without specific governmental approval, any of the following weapons, is guilty of carrying a concealed dangerous weapon:

a) Blackjack, billy club, gludgeon, metal knuckles or knife with a blade over six (6" inches long or other sharp or dangerous instrument usually employed in the attack or defense of a person; or

b) A gun or dangerous firearm, whether loaded or unloaded.

Any person convicted of Carrying Concealed Dangerous Weapons shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not to exceed one hundred eighty (180) days or a fine not to exceed $1,000.00 plus court costs, or both, and restitution to the victim. In addition to the penalty prescribed for such an offense, a person convicted of carrying a concealed weapon may be ordered by the Court to forfeit such weapon to the Tribe

You have to be this tall (insert pic of Gabe) to ride a roller coaster, buy beer or carry a loaded weapon
