Finally got my hands on a Walther PPQ, and after a week long work trip and a week in the office and Christmas traveling, I finally got to take it out and put some lead downrange!
Scored an invite to the East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club to shoot on their pistol range. If any of you guys live in the area, this is a GREAT place! Everyone we met there was really nice and VERY safety conscious! I got some good advice from one of the range masters that helped me with pulling my shots every few rounds. I will be sending in my membership check in 3 days.
Overall, I am VERY impressed by this pistol! I worked on my grip a little bit and had no problem shooting ragged holes at 3yds, and tight groups at 7. The sights took a little getting used to with my 115gr FMJ range ammo, as I needed to cover the target, rather line up the tops of the sights. Float the dot & shoot the shot. Walther offers other front sights to change this, but I got used to it after about 2 rounds, so I think that I will leave it for now. Also, I will be shooting the 124gr Speer if I can ever find the **** things, so that may change point of impact. The mag release on the Walther is a located on the trigger guard - but it didn't present any problems after one or two quick release practices. You do NOT have to alter your grip on the pistol to release the mag as I have seen some people do, it is easily done with your trigger finger.

The pistol is well balanced, and I actually changed to a larger backstrap once I started shooting it with two hands. Didn't expect that to make much of a difference, but it helped a little and make my grip very solid.
Recoil was about like I would have expected from a compact 9mm (the Walther is about the same size as a G19 Glock). The QD trigger might be the best darn thing about this pistol. The trigger pull is SMOOOOOTH and light. The trigger reset is short. and I mean SHORT! Rather than squeeze/fire squeeze/fire, it was more like squeeze/fire, tap, tap, tap, tap! I was very pleased with how well it felt after about 300-400 rounds.
I would recommend that anyone looking for a compact pistol in 9mm or 40 at least shoot this one and see what you think. I'm in love with it!
