Have been searching the interwebs for a light for my new AR15 for hog hunting. Traditionally the response has been 'get a better scope for low light conditions' but I'd rather not mount a huge scope on an AR.
The OLIGHT with a red filter seems to get good reviews, but I thought I'd ask the experts before making a purchase. Thanks!

I picked up an elusive wildlife 250 yard green light a little while back and use it for predator hunting and so far it has work out great. I defenately perfer the green over the red light. I picked up a second 250 yard green light with the bow attachment for hogs at night but haven't had a chance to put it in action yet. It work great as a second light for the caller scaning the area while predator hunting and the other light is on the shooters gun.

I've got a Surefire 6P with flip up red filter in a Larue mount on one of my AR's. Works great when looking through my IOR M2.

+1 for the Elusive lights.

I use a helmet mounted PVS-14 and have an Elusive light and a laser on my rifle.

ND3 laser designator, not cheap but worth it. Buddy has one on a suppressed AR that is FUN AS HELL on hogs

The ND3 was going to be my rec too. Haven't had experience with any other options though.

Streamlight TLR-1 clips on any rail. Bright light, and compact.

Re the ND3 units...lots of problems, batteries, mounts, etc....and the two people I know that bought them, sold them quick. Biggest issue though was the beam strength...tighten it enough for sufficient light at say 100yds, and you had about a 12" circle....am I lighting up a coyote's shoulder or butt?...open it up, and useful distance dropped accordingly. Unimpressed, except for short distances.

That may be an optics issue. 100 yd shots are the norm and while it's not clear as day, you can definitely get a clear enough shot picture to drop hogs at that range. Of course you've probably got a schmidt and bender on your set up and now I'm talking out my ass.

+1 for streamlight
I have a TRL-2 on my S&P 15, i got it because it is lightweight, and it is pretty powerful, i have used it spotlighting hogs before in a pinch. I think the TRL-1 is waterproof too, but not sure
