I like to do allot of outside work on the weekends and want to find a pair of jeans that doesn't easily get torn up. Everything I seem to wear of late has holes it the knees quickly. It also probably doesn't help that i am down on the floor playing with my kids.

any recommendations?

See if Patagonia is still making jeans. Their clothing is the most durable I've ever used.

*Supposedly* the fire hose jeans at Duluth Trading Co. are very durable as well. Would be worth your time to check them out.

I have started wearing wrangler Rig Wear cargos, they are cut like jeans, held up really well last weekend of 8 hours running a chainsaw and climbing on brush piles.

Check out Duluth, Arborwear, and Rail Riders.

I wouldn't buy anything made by Patagucci unless it was on sale.

Mountain Khakis has really good stuff....not the blue jeans but the original mountain pant.

I need something with deep pockets so when you sit down (or take a poop in the woods) you down lose everything. I have some of the Magellan cargos from academy and they are nice but pockets are cut wrong.

When I buy pants for ranch work they have to pass a check list:

1.have to be heavy fabric and prefer cargos. double stitching is a must.
2. rear and cargo pockets must be sown on the outside not cut into the pants. that way if you need to cut a pocket off you don't ruin the pants.
3. gotta have deep pockets so crap doesn't fall out when you are riding around.

I had found the perfect shorts but no they don't make them anymore. Still looking for the perfect pant.

Uhmm. How bout Wrangler 13mwz?

It takes a lot to wear them out and they aren't expensive.

How about the oldest jeans you can find in the closet?

Seems kind of simpleton, but has worked OK for me since the 70's.

I've always just worn Wrangler or Carhartt and never given it another thought. Most of the stuff y'all have named above I've never even heard of.

Just got the Duluth catalog in the mail and they said that if you wear out the cargos they will replace them.

I don't like denim as a work pant material (durability lacking/too much water absorption). Not really "jeans" per se, as "jeans" in my opinion are made of denim, but I've had great luck with Dickies duck cloth work pants. They come in a variety of colors and at <$20 are pretty much bomb proof in my experience. I've gotten down and dirty in all environments with these things and am yet to wear out a pair. Now, out growing a pair (mostly in the waist) is another story.

Wild ace (actual word would have been edited) look them up, better than Cathcart IMO.

I personally have a 13mwz rotation that includes two new pair that look nice and two pair of 1-2 year old pair that are used for work etc. When I rip one of the old pair, I get a new pair and move one of the formerly nice pair to work duty.

Works for me...

These are tough and have the deep pockets you were wanting.

I love my Carhartt. Not jeans, but their work pants - the ones with a double front, almost like a pair of chaps.

May not be for everyone, but the first pair lasted me over a year of daily wear.
