I'm getting my deer shoulder mount done from my bow buck this year. My taxidermist sent me some pics wanting to know how to do the ears. I look at both pics and I cant decide.

SO a quick poll before lunch, Alert or Back?

I have one where one ear is alert forward and one is back. I think it's more natural and if you watch deer you rarely see their ears pointing in the same direction for very long unless they are alerted to something.

back i have a wall full of them and i think the back looks so much better than the alert. Though i do have several with ears in each position and several other positions as well

The way that he has set/postured the eyes make the mount look better with the ears back IMHO.

Post Oak Taxidermy out of Yoakum, Tx. Mike Mischer does a great job and works fast. He doesnt have a website yet but you can look it up on facebook and see some of his work.

Honestly, I like the mount to remind me of the hunt. If he was alert and ears *****ed up the whole way, I'd mount him like that. If he was walking head low, sniffing, mount him like that. Etc. Etc. Etc.

But that's just me.
