looking for a place to buy a pistol, wondering if a place would let me shoot a couple before deciding. any info would be appreciated.

i'm an avid bird hunter, own 7 shotguns, but my pistol experience has been limited to every now and then on deer leases etc. i went ahead and took a safety course and got a shooting lesson etc, now just looking to for a place to try a few guns.

Not sure I want to know what gunslinger is trolling for on HH with that discription.---Though I will say DPD has made that area a lot less interesting.

Bullet Trap in Plano. Always good service and price for me.

I've bought my last few from here. If you pay cash, they give you a nice little discount (Bass Pro/Cabelas usually don't). Whenever I have shopped for my last few rifles/pistols, they were always the cheapest.

yes, they are a Pawn Shop, but half of the store is a gun shop

forgot to mention that Bachman Pawn & Guns doesn't have a gun range, but if you pay to rent one at DFW Gun Range and then buy it at Bachman Gun, you would still probably save $$$. Last time I was at DFW Gun Range, they had a big selection to pick and rent from

These guys are clowns. Avoid.

Bachman Pawn is good, but I'd hit them up at one of the gunshows. Typically better prices there, and you can compare prices between vendors. For example, I got my 3rd Gen G19 a couple of years ago for $485 + tax from a small vendor, whereas all the other vendors ranged from $515 up. Definitely better deals at the gunshows if you are willing to do a little walking & talking.

Also keep in mind the mesquite gun show is next weekend, might be a good place to find deals. We'll be there early in the morning.

I shot a G19 during my lessons, so I was considering that. It felt a little small in my hands, but I do want a compact. Any suggestions?

If a G19 felt small in your hands, you must have gorilla hands like me. Most people complain about the grip size and that they feel like they are holding a brick.

Can't go wrong with a Glock, as long as it is comfortable in your hand and you shoot it well.

Bachman Pawn and gun probably has the best prices.

Ray's is decent pricing, both have a really good selection.

Log you're right about the hands, and the grip felt a little too thick. any suggestions for a thinner grip?

You won't find a thinner grip on the glocks all though the gen 4's have back straps that can be adjusted for comfort. Sig sauer has a nice thin feeling grip and of course the single stack 1911's.

Put a list together of all the guns you'd like to see, then go to the gunshow this weekend and you'll get to handle all of them. Vendors have tables and tables of new guns set out for people to fondle before they buy. Just FYI, you might ask before picking up old and antique guns. You'll be able to tell which ones they are because there won't be tons of people fingering them.
