Where can I buy Japanese Millet - in or around Dallas Texas?

Do yall know of any feed store that carries it?

I've been asked to find a place that carries specifically that type of millet. My contact is convinced that that is the best and that is what he wants for Duck season.

If yall could help me out I'll buy you a beer at the chicken.

Gonna have to be for next duck season from what I understand. Has to be there for a year before you can hunt it. Since its not stemming from agricultural usage, it can be seen as baiting until the plant begins to thrive.

It can be seen as "baiting"?

I'm sorry I'm not familar. Please explain.

I'm assuming baiting is illegal or unethical?

Obviously I'm not a hunter. I'd like to get into it, but I was sent on a mission to find some seed for my coworker.

Thanks in advance.

Call TPWD

A first year millet crop is illegal to hunt over. I'd keep your recipt for the seed to at least show when you bought it.

Unless your typical AG practices for your county involves throwing seed on the ground for livestock

It's called Prima Facia (first look). Otherwise known as, evidence of law violation.

don't worry about the baiting talk. you can plant it, but you better hurry. takes 60 days and needs to be in atleast 60 days prior to first frost. If you have moist ground, get it in now and you should still be ok. try Turner Seed. www.turnerseed.com and see if they have any.

the law is you can't hunt over "manipulated" millet in the first year. planting and flooding is not manipulating. you can't shred it. you can't drive over it over and over and over to knock it down. But if you have a atv and knock some down on the way in, so be it. If you walk in and knock some down with your body, so be it.

but if you have water on it, the ducks will get to it, don't worry. heads will begin to dip, and they will whack it to get the food.

After the first year, it is considered natural vegetation and you can manipulate it. But you will have to plant it yourself each year so it is always first year.

It's not baiting, as described, if you don't manipultate it. Going to have a hard time getting it to germinate without a little rain. It is a little late as well.
