I have been wanting to buy two sets of rod/reel to fish from the surf. I just found this combo marked $53.00 (for the combo I think).

Daiwa DF100A spinning reel

SMS1503H Rod...this is a 3 piece, 15 ft spinning rod

I can find plenty information on the Daiwa reel.

I cannot find anything on the rod. Some searching leads me to think it is a Penn Surfmaster. Nothing matches the exact model that I can find.

Does anyone on here know anything about this rod?

The combo price is great but I don't want to buy something that is just going to fall apart when I get a fish on.

Thanks guys. That looks good enough for me for the price. I think this combo just got stuck at this particular Walmart by accident...maybe somebody ordered it & deserted the order because they do not stock anything else in the same category.

Maybe someone with experience with either the rod or the reel will chime in.

Reviews on the reel...people pretty much like it. The drag is made cheap but is still functional according to one review.
