Not sure if this has been posted here before but it just came to my attention and I thought I'd pass it along.

People that run around like this just to get a video to see if a cop wil **** with them knowing full well the law make me want to punch them in the face.

Now, that's off my chest....good for the Officer.

I know, its legal, he was in the right, its his right to do it, blah blah blah blah blah.

I hope for his sake the rest of his life is filled with nice, non-agitated, fully law informed officer encounters. But if its not, I won't really feel all that bad.

I would offer to buy that cop a beer for his good attitude and his 22 years in the marines. I think it is a sad statement that we have to praise a cop for being personable, friendly, and not getting his panties in a wad over someone exercising their rights, when those are the qualities in a cop that should be expected (IMO)

I wonder how that cop's reaction would have been different if the cameraman hadnt been a marine. He, the cop, obviously responded more favorably to the guy because of the bond.

I've skipped over the video today thinking it was the recent Ohio cop that was a complete jerk, and the OP had his sarcasm cranked up.

Yup, Jeremy, my man, you are a first class choad. Good for the officer.

+1

That guy was a d-bag. Walking around with an unloaded Hi-Point trying to bait a cop into a confrontation, but what I can't get past is the failure to identify. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that would go over well here in Texas.

Honestly, i dont see why you would want to act like such a dbag. If i was an officer when someone starts acting like that I would probably start becoming more suspicious especially when they say that they will not go beyond a first name. Maybe that just me not trusting people.

Yeah, everytime I see someone exercising his or her rights I always think they're being a jerk too. Silly people. Cops are always on our side. Just go ahead and do whatever they tell you. After all, you've got nothing to hide, right?

(And Texas law does not require you to produce i.d. to a cop unless you're driving or the cop has "reasonable suspicion" that you're committing a crime, and being a "jerk" isnt a crime.)

Right to carry or not, by statute wouldn't carrying a sidearm without a valid license be a crime in Texas?

So, in this case, the officer asking for ID and none being produced wouldn't "Jeremy" be in violation of the Texas Penal Code?

The video guy was being a jerk-off.

You can't CCL in Texas without an ID can you?

We he carrying in the open?

So wierd to me.

I am pretty sure he was open carrying, but without a magazine in. Maybe some weird Cali law?

aggiesq, your sarcasm is noted. I mean maybe I am not as paranoid as others on giving stuff like my name. Now if he asked how many guns I owned I wouldn't tell him. But really its just a name. I imagine he could have still exercised his rights with out appearing to be a dbag

As I see it he was working an angle on a guy. That's something I wish more cops would do. HAve you ever had a waiter ask you a few leading question, and once he hit on something he knew about he'd talk to you about? It opens people up and makes them more friendly. If you had to walk up to a gun man would you try and find common ground? If not, what would you do?

It is. They can legally open carry without a license if the gun is unloaded. Dumb law, but people do it.

Because legally he doesn't have to? I don't agree with the methods some of these people use, but they're trying to "educate" people.
