I purchased a small intex pool 10'x31" and I want to keep it clear. I purchased an HTH tablet that is rated for a 10k gallon pool. Can I cut this tablet up to a smaller size and toss it in the floater?

I'll shock the pool later this week with the shock granules. My 3 year old is having too much fun this weekend to do it now though.

I will eventually get the little salt chlorinate pump from intex, but in the meantime this will have to do.

Help me not screw up OB. Learn me on the ways of the pool man.

Academy, but walmart has that same pool for $59 or so. Also, the price on the academy flyer says "every day price" even thought it is in red like it is some sale.

The other problem I found is that I will need to get a bigger pump to turn it into a salt water system. The salt chlorination filter is only $160 and can be used on the larger pools later on.

I got the 8' one and all I do is add 1.5 tbsp of "shock and swim" granules once a week and the levels have all been fine. These little pools are a lot more maintenance than you'd think. The pool cost me $50 but I've spent $150+ on chemicals and equipment. The little filters can be rinsed off and reused for about a month. I couldn't find any chlorine tablets cheaper than $40. Where did y'all get yours?

The depot has the tablets for 3 bucks each.

How do you keep the pool from getting too hot to be worth getting in? We bought the blue cover, but that seems like it would just attract sunlight and make the water hotter.

What about algicide and the PH +/- powders?

Gotta figure out some way to aerate. Gonna take a pump of some kind or you can route the discharge water into the air before it goes in. Other than buying some bagged ice. I dont see any other way.

I don't have a cover. If it's going to rain, I'll throw a tarp over it like a redneck. Its not too hot. Although the sunlight breaks down the chlorine faster

We tell people that we got ours for the nieces' visit. We don't speak of the fact that we like to sit in it and drink beer. In my experience the recommended tablets do not keep up. You can swim within 15 minutes of applying shock. We shock it and add clarifyer weekly and it's perfect (assuming you net out all the bugs, twigs, leaves, and whatnots). Shock away, the chlorine tablets are mostly futile. After a couple of weekends it has paid for itself, and anything extra is a bonus.

Those intex pools were the bane of my existence when I worked at a pool store.

Small solar fountain will cool the water down. I thought about using block ice last year to cool down our 30k gallon pool but after crunching the numbers it was going to take a crazy amount of ice for just a couple of degrees... Like truck loads!
