Where are the best game processing places around Texas? Slovacek Sausage in Snook is who I've used in the past and they do a pretty good job.

I think slovacek pretty much sucks. Nearby Readfiel'ds, Green's, and Rau's all are far better.

Bellville meat market is about as good as it gets.

Eddie Ray's Smokehouse in Elm Mott and McGregor

Po Boy's in Merit is hands down the best there is, and you can't beat their prices either.

In the several Co. are surrounding Victoria, I would recommend Country Slaughterhouse.

It may cost a little more than some in the area, but are very consistent and really good to boot.

My father and I have taken countless deer to them since I was a kid, and cannot remember ever getting sup par service or product.

I had my deer done at Ed's Butcher Block in Bryan, good stuff!!!

There is a relatively new processor in Fredericksburg called Hart Craft that I recommend. Through the years I have used about 6 different processors in Fredericksburg, Junction, Johnson City and Llano. Hart Craft has the best product, price and service mix of all the places I have been. Will not switch again as long as they are in business. They do a great job on taxidermy as well.

C&C Processing Elkhart, TX is one that I like the best so far. Not much around there, but they are good owners and do good work.

Ramblin Rogue: I second that, well not your house, but my house.

Why should I pay $200 (or whatever ya'll pay) when I can do it myself? Plus, it's fun and I can teach the kid a valuable skill.

But, if I had to take it anywhere, it would be that place in Schulenberg. They make all kinds of things out of your venison - hot links, deer sticks, dried sausage, you name it. Readfields and Slovacek are pretty lame - summer sausage and smoked sausage.

My wife is from Bellville. Her parents started the Schroeder Malt and Burger back in the day which is now known as The Hill. They used to get all of their meat done at the Bellville Meat Market. They raised Beefmasters in addition to owning/operating the burger shop. Some of you may have eaten there when it belonged to my wife's parents. I myself have had some deer from the place processed over at the Market and it was A-OK!

Cherry Spring Smokehouse in Cherry Spring, TX... a suburb of Fredericksburg. Jalepeno_ honey glazed hams.... for 15bucks, you can take in a bone-in ham and receive greatness... netted, boneless, vac packed and frozen.

I second Wiatrick's in Poth. Owned by a member of original 12th Man kickoff team.

Johnny Gs is good although a few years back we dropped off our meat and some of it disappeared.

Vinceks down towards wharton.

BW meat market on Shepherd in Houston

M&M processing in Zephyr makes really good sausage and are great people to deal with.


Fischer's Meat Market in Muenster is awesome. Probably the best I've ever had.
