I'm thinking about trying to convert my LP turkey fryer burner to natural gas so I can just run it off of the outlet on my back porch. Shouldn't be much more than swapping out the hose and opening up the burner holes a bit with a drill.

Preferably, I'd like to find a 30-40 foot hose so I can use the burner to boil crawfish in my driveway. The longest one I've found online is 20' - I could splice two of those together, but I'm sure there's some online source (or someone near CS) who can just fab a custom length hose for me. Any of y'all ever done this or have any idea of a reputable source?

Where are you? Give someone like TWSCO a call.

I'm in Navasota. I was thinking one of y'all would know someone like TWSCO. That's exactly what I was hoping for. The only "custom length" sources I've found online want $500 or so for a damn 40' hose. Sure...let me grab my checkbook.

On problem you may run into is pressure difference. Most turkey fryers have a high pressure burner and operate on a psi scale. You home gas line pressure will be under 1 psi.

I'm thinking I can just open up the holes on the burner to get more flow. That's really all that changed on my grill when I did the LP to natural gas conversion - the "kit" came with different knobs and larger ports for the burners to allow for more flow to make up for the lack of pressure.

Dunno, it may be a bust, but I figure all that I'm out is the cost of the hose and a $30 fryer base. Tejas makes some badass natural gas burner stands, but they're expensive and heavy (60lbs) - more than I want to tote around every time I want to boil shrimp or crawfish or whatever.

what are the connections on the 20' hoses and can you find a way to connect the two?

Found the 20' just digging around online. Search for something like "20' quick connect natural gas hose" and you'll see some links. There are a couple of online sources.

One end is a quick connect and the other is some sort of female threaded end. I figure I'll just cut the hose on my burner and cut whatever end is on the "new" hose and splice the two together with a male/male coupler and some hose clamps.

You have to have a larger hole in the orifice for Nat gas because of the lower pressure. This will only increase volume, not pressure. The burner will still work, but the flame will not be as hot. Standard working pressure for propane is about 6 oz as opposed to 3 to 4 oz for Nat gas. For a fish or turkey fryer, you are normally looking at 5 to 10 psi. The larger hole will not compensate for the difference in pressure
