I am hearing from some people that they can and from others that they cannot. I bet somebody on the OB knows for sure.

don't know the answer but a friend's family ranch has had sika, red stag, fallow, black buck, corsican, axis, and white tail on about 1600 acres high fenced and no cross breeding for 20+ years.

obviously red stag doesn't equal elk, but similar fwiw...

ursus may correct me, but I believe that any of the Cervus genus can breed with each other. Doesn't mean they will, but they can.

I think they can and are called silk deer.

IIRC sika, elk and red deer can all interbreed.

As most have mentioned, they can. I have pics on my work pc that my buddy killed on his place near Rocksprings. I'll post pic of one tomorrow. He calls them Sika Grande's.

Just guessing, but I would assume they're sterile?

At the ranch I worked on in school, we had a few axis does that were bred by a sika buck. The offspring were all females and looked pretty much just like regular axis, but they were darker.
