In California it's about the price of a bottle of Chardonnay.

My taxidermist charges $275 for ducks. Prices vary, but beware of "cheap" jobs. Just like guns and knives, you get what you pay for.

is it worth $275? dang that seems awful expensive for a bird.

Mine cost $195 a couple of years ago. Danny Lee in Benbrook.

As to the question of whether its worth it, that depends on how badly you want a duck on your wall.

$275 is very much in line with a good, quality mount. You get what you pay for.

Sunchaser is pretty worthless for most things, but top shelf booze and taxidermy he knows well.

Sunchaser knows about lot's of things....most of which are high dollar.
Although I've never required the services of a certified blow up slump buster for deer hunting ills I'm glad I have a knowledegable person to turn to for information if that day ever comes.

Had I ever received such a promised gift, I would have been happy to test it's merits and offer an informed opinion.

Sadly, it was apparently lost in the mail, and in my belief resides within close reach of the person who originally offered it.

$275 is about what most good duck miunys run these days. Some are significantly higher. I had doug stallings in bryan mount several for me before he passed away. I think he charged $125 for them but they are all well done and still look perfect today. Mike Palermo does superb work outside of caldwell but im not sure what he charges now. Im guessing a lot. Friend had a goose mounted by him a couple of years ago and the normal price was $600 i believe.

I've had a goose and 2 ducks done by Randy Turner at Bass Taxidermy in the past 3 years. They all turned out great. I've posted pics here before, but here they are again in case you missed them. I try to have him do stuff that is a little different than the standard mounts, and he always delivers with outstanding work.

I'm not sure what it costs to mount one, but be sure to do it while it's still warm.
