Excellent news. Sounds like great work by investigators on a tough case to solve.

Wow, that moved fast. Back on Tuesday I almost posted TPWD's media release on the Game Wardens executing an evidentiary search warrant related to this matter.

Here's another article, has a couple other details.

Interesting revelation to have this mush later---
"On Nov. 22 game wardens received a tip on the department’s Game Thief Hotline from someone who said they believed they had seen a boat on Marburger’s property like the one shown on the posters.

Marburger had not previously been a suspect, Cox said.

“That got the momentum started,” Cox said."

I remember when that happened. Same year or close to as the Lake LBJ hit and run.

Looks LBJ hit and run was in 2003....

Just another reason why I won't night boat.

Very tragic, but glad justice will be served.

Many, many years ago my uncle owned a speed boat and frequently took it out on Lake Lewisville near Dallas. Days after he sold it there was a similar boating accident, and the suspect boat matched the description of the one he had just sold. He called in the buyer's info but it was a dead end. Not sure if it was ever solved.

Anyone remember this one which is still unsolved:

quote:
17 June 1995 Stephanie Booker was in a boat on Lake Lewisville in Texas. She and two friends were headed toward Charlie's Pier 121 Marina when a cigarette styled boat hit the rear of their craft and sped away. She remembers seeing the hull before its propeller struck her and reported she could feel her face being ripped off. Her face was almost cut into three parts. She was life flighted to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas. This accident was covered many more times in the media over the next few years, including coverage of legal actions, efforts to identify the hit and run boat and/or boat operator, a surprise search of about 3,000 boats at the Lake in July 1995, searching for wreckage on the lake bottom, possible involvement of a professional athlete, expiration of time limits to find the hit and run, the case being on a television program called 'Unsolved Mysteries", etc...

initially arrested on a misdemeanor charge of not having proper registration on a personal watercraft

I am glad they caught him. I remember seeing flyers about this up in some TPWD office locations I have visited.

What exactly is this charge, just out of curiosity? Did they nab him just for letting a registration lapse?

I have a 12 foot jonboat for which I sold the motor, and let the registration lapse since it no longer required one when used without a motor.
