I need recommendation for sunglass lense color. I will use primarily for wade fishing but also for some hunting. Also wondering if there is a color which helps offset color blindness (browns/greens/reds)..

I wear green mirror, which is a bronze outlook. I found that the gray lenses tended to be too dark for me.

I have Costas in the green mirror and vermillion. I wear the vermillion when it's cloudy and the green mirror when it's sunny.

Copper or amber will be your best bet.

Copper, bronze...amber.

For sight fishing, which is all I do, use Cooper or Vermillion.Both were recommended by guys who do it for a living.

Don't use them hunting. Pain in the butt using binoculars and the sun is lower in the hemisphere, hence I don't need them.

I wouldnt get too wrapped up in lens color.
I've tried everything but silver and yellow from Costa and I couldnt tell any significant difference.

If you are truly an avid wade fisherman that is looking for fish rather than just blind casting.....color makes a big difference.

Avid, yes, so is the copper a decent choice? Also how does copper work for bird shooting?

What color fishing shirt do you recommend?
I've always been partial to lime.

I am still a big fan of Original Tarpon Wear....It didn't come in lime. White, light blue and sand. I usually try and match my wade boots.

eco.....The first nice pair I bought was Action Optics. They were later bought out by Smith Optics. The color I was using was renamed copper. I would think that there would be differences in a copper color from Smith, Maui Jim, Costa etc....ie copper from Smith may be closer to vermillion in a Costa etc...

Nechez21- I am SOOOO tired of folks like you who've fished 2 or 3 times on the coast trying to act like you've got ANY experience!

For Christ's sakes sunchaser and I were chasing reds and sight casting to redfish when you were wearing three cornered britches!

Not only that, I referenced ( not named ) coastal guides that you haven't heard of probably.

Neches....Is this case it really didn't have anything to do with internet knowledge....it had to do with lens color recommendations. Your opinion was it didn't matter....every one else seems to think it does. Amazing how everyone has an opinion as to copper, bronze, vermillion or amber.....except a couple of guys with those awful green mirrors from Costa.

So does it matter? I know it does to me and seems like it does to other people in a like fashion....except the green mirror guys. It may not to you but the OP poster asked for a lens color recommendation for wade fishing.
Costa guys are going to say amber or vermillion if they are wearing 400's. Copper if 580's......and that awful green if they are trying to match a lime green shirt.

.......and in conclusion for the awful green mirror guys.....to each his on.

Likewise, I do know that they are either amber or copper based depending on 400 or 580.

So....This was the last straw that broke NW80's sanity?

HAHA, I saw the reference to the lens color thread in NW's Sabbatical thread and I had to go back and see what happened, because I never reopened it after my post up at the top.

Sunchaser: My green mirrors were not my first choice. I've had the vermilion pair for about 2 years now, and forgot to get them out of my mrs. ad's car on the way to the airport to go on our honeymoon. So in between flights in Charlotte, NC I found a sunglasses stand that had 1 pair of Costa Harpoons that were not black, and they just so happened to be the green mirror.

So there's my defense of the green mirror. They wouldn't have been my first choice, and I don't particularly care how they look on the outside, but they do cut down the sun more than the vermilion lenses do.

Just checking out the OB faq... and of all topics for me to miss... To think, I could have gotten in the middle of all this.

Eye Guy... We would love for you to share your expert opinion as long it was copper, bronze, amber or vermillion.

Actually, NW has it all wrong. Purple non-polarized with a yellow mirror coat is the best for saltwater fishing. No reason to do anything other than that.
