8 cups warm water to 2 cup powder, put in refer.

In Pitcher fill about half way with ice.

2 cups lime mixture
1 cup Jose Cuervo Gold
1/2 cup Grand Marnier
1/2 cup Contreau
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice with pulp
1 tablespoon powdered sugar

served on salted rimmed glass.

You lost me at "Lime mix." By definition, that cannot be the perfect margarita. If you're going to use decent tequila, at least squeeze your own lime juice.

HTownAG - it does have fresh squeezed lime juice in it. Don't knock it till you try it.

Squeeze a bit of line into a really nice tequila and enjoy... margaritas are for tourists and sorority chicks.

Just like anything else discussed on texags... there are those of us who know how to do it right, and those of you who drink margaritas and miller lite.

Quick and easy Rita.

I can frozen Lemon Lime mix
Tequilla
Triple Sec
Salt (for rim of glass if wanted)

Fill blender with Ice
Dump in frozen concentrate
Fill concentrate container 3/4 up with tequilla
Pour over Ice and mix
Fill container 1/3 up with Triple Sec and pour in
Mix until totally blended.
Serve it up.

You are so off base with your comment, I like Coors Light.

Kent's Rita

1 cup Ice
1 cup Tequila (100% Agave)
1/2 to 3/4 cup Triple Sec (I use Orange Curacao)
1/2 to 3/4 cup Light Beer (I use Coors Light or Keystone)
1 Good squeeze of Lime Juice
1 Good squeeze of Lemon Juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon powdered sugar (or more to taste)
1 can of good Limeade (I use Minute Maid)
Water to fill blender
Lime wedges
Splash of good Orange Liqueur (I use Patron Citronge)

Put ice in blender. Add Tequila, Triple Sec, and Light beer. Squeeze Lime and Lemon Juice. Add Salt and powered sugar. Add Limeade and fill blender full with water and blend. Fill a glass with Ice and squeeze lime wedge over ice. Add a splash of the Orange Liqueur. Fill glass with Kent's Rita and enjoy with friends and family.

No sweet and sour and no lime mix.

1...jigger of lime
1...jigger of lemon
best if both are frozen into jigger cubes.
1...jigger of Controy
2...jiggers of Tequila
touch of sugar.

1.5 oz Tequila (Don Julio or Hornitos)
0.5 oz Cointreau
Juice from 2 Limes fresh squeezed
Shake with ice and strain over rocks in margarita glass.
Sip and enjoy!

Our current favorite margarita is reposado with grand marnier and key limeade on the rocks with salt.

Key limeade: (this is the "key" to a good margarita.)
Juice of 13 key limes (dip your glass in the lime juice for salting if you salt)
In a quart container, add half a cup of sugar to the lime juice and fill with cold water.

How much booze/limeade varies. 40/60 booze/limeade with the booze being 80/20 tequilla/(grand marnier) is a good starting place.

Jalapeno Margarita

I'll second rln_01's recipe, exactly how I make mine.

1oz agave nectar
2oz fresh squeezed lime
2 -2 1/2 oz tequila (i prefer gran centenario plata)
11/4 oz cointreau

Shake like a mofo with ice and pour over ice in salted glass.

For a twist look up bobby flay's cactus pear margarita. You will have to order the pear syrup but it is an amazing drink.

Similar to ours, we just squeeze our own limes and use Dos Equis.

3 oz tequila
2 oz triple sec
1 oz fresh lime juice

This was the Moderno's recipe...

Nothing with triple sec is worth drinking. Period.

This is how you make a margarita. I prefer Grand Marnier, but close enough. Adding sugar or nectar or triple sec or any mix makes it way too sweet.

3 lime wedges
Course Salt
1 cup silver tequila
.5 cup Cointreau
.5 cup fresh lime juice
Splash of simple bar syrup(optional)
(1 part sugar to 2 parts water, boiled 5 min)
Ice cubes

Rub wedge around class rim, dip in salt. Combine the tequila, cointreau, lime juice,and syrup in shaker with ice. shake well and strain into glasses (over ice if desired).

3 parts silver tequila (or two parts, your choice)
1 part Cointreau (orange liqueur)
1 part lime juice
note: American socialite Margarita Sames came up with this formula in 1943 in Acapulco

I use tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, Gran Gala, and ajust the proportions according to mood. I have never used Cointreau, but prefer the Gran Gala to Grand Marnier because of the stronger orange flavor.

Yep, but only to smooth out the sourness of fresh lime juice. My lady friend likes a little more to sweeten. Try different brands if you can find several - they all have different flavors. Some of the ones you may find in health food stores are downright awful - like molasses. My favorite is Madhava Amber.

Any bottle that has the words Jose Cuervo on it is good only for marinade. (MHO)

2 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
2 oz non-alcoholic Triple Sec - I prefer Stirrings
6 oz Premium tequila - your favorite.
Nectar to taste

Shake with ice and serve in Margarita Glass with or without salted rim. Makes 2.

I use the same recipe as Ron Mexico! Just mix and pour over ice! Nice!
