I heard this is a good way for insect control. It sort of makes sense but i was curious of anybody's experiences. I looked at the local feed store and lowes but neither carried the stuff.

I've used it on occasion as a mound drench for fire ants and occasionally to spray on them. It takes care of them quite well. It is indiscriminate though and will do a number on the good guys like earthworms too.

depends what you are trying to kill. fire ants are resilient!

meely bugs, aphids, and some types of scale will dye with orange oil.

fleas, ticks, roaches, etc. will more than likely be repelled but not killed.

if the infestation is causing injury to your plants or animals, use the right stuff, just follow the directions. home use pesticides are a negligible source of pollution.

**once a pesticide is applied and dries, it should be safe for your kids. follow the directions, don't put too much.**

I mainly want to clear my yard of spider, crickets and the likes. I had this stuff recommended rather then using store bought pesticide. My thinking is it would be a bit safer as my kids favorite game seems to be to tackle each other and roll around in the grass.

Mopar, Spinosad in the ready to spray bottle from a local nursery. You'll thank me later.

Orange oil should kill the bugs you talked about. I have used it for fire ants also and a few other pests with good effectiveness. Just remember though, it will burn plants and can kill them

that looks like some interesting stuff. Have you used it before? what were your results like?

I use it on fire ant mounds. Pour boiling (or recently boiling) water, then follow up w/ orange oil. Dilute it to save some money. It's pretty satisfying to see all of the dead ants piled up. It won't kill them all, but the rest will move on.

*Be careful if the mound is near or on a plant that you like.*
