Is it legal to drive a tractor down the road in Comal County, Texas?

Details: Tractor is a Daewoo Skid Steer loader. Road is a public road in a subdivision of sorts. Road is only 35-45 mph and almost no traffic present.

It needs a slow moving vehicle indicator, but should be.

Google "Texas slow moving vehicle".

In the mid or late 60s someone from Minnesota told me that in some rural areas of Minnesota, it was apparently quite common at the time for high school kids to drive the tractor to town on Friday and Saturday nights. It was either that or walk.

What are you asking for? Just do it, this is Texas, not NYC. If you don't have a slow moving vehicle sign, have someone trail you with flashers.

I believe if it is for the purpose of transporting equipment, ie: attached plow, bins, planter, etc, it's legal. For just joyriding, tractors are not street legal.

Can be very dangerous if you ever get on regular highways (55mph+). Buddy's dad was killed when a car overtook him (hazards and sign on tractor) and launched up off bushhog and into cab of the tractor.

Far as I know it is completely legal on any non-controlled access roadway. But yes, in reference to the post above, there are always idiots out on the roads at all times. (The car driver, not your friends father. Very tragic)

Every time it snowed back home, we'd hook the tractor to a sled, tow it to town, and pick up girls (literally)

By the way, I see tractors on the highway all the time.

My whole family is from rural minnesota. Maybe if you were dirt poor, but I have never in all of the stories heard anything like this. A farmer worth a damn would have a bunch of old trucks that would be driven anytime before a tractor was.

Yeah, in my rural part of Texas, it was pretty common for the local cops to look the other way at under age driving, as long as the drivers avoided stupidity.

Driving tractors on FM and county roads, is pretty common, especially when traveling from one farm to another.

But that doesn't make them street legal.

Heck, even George Jones used his lawn tractor to drive to the corner store, drunk, to buy more booze, but that doesn't make lawn tractors street legal.
