I'm looking for advice to kill Bahia grass in my yard (large).

MSMA?
Dual (I know, not labeled)?
glophosate the whole damn thing?
someone said atrazine?

I hate the stuff. It's like trying to mow wire and it's 8 inches tall 3 days after mowing.

It will sure eat some lawnmower blades. I usually mix up a little Cimarron and hand spray.

MSMA is being phasesd out by then end of 2010 (read banned), so buy it now. If you can, since most stores have pulled it from the shelves.

I read "cinnamon" and thought wth? Does cimarron kill st. augustine or bermuda? Oak trees?

It will not harm the bermuda, don't know about st aug.

It is a leave treatment so as long as you dont do it on a windy day i think the oak tress should be fine.

I also forgot to mention that I can't hand spray - too large of yard. I will use an atv and a boom sprayer.

In my yard I spray by hand but I treat all our hay pastures with boom sprayer.

I just read the label. I really didn't want to wait till spring. Would I be screwing up or wasting my time if I tried an application now?

Ok to spray now. The heat stresses it and aids in the kill. Just dont spray if you recently mowed. You want the grass to be growing and not stunted.

Cimarron works great. It doesn't happen fast, but it does knock it back. If you did a treatment now, and another next spring, I think you would completely wipe it out.

Only thing I am not sure about is the St. Augustine.

Yeah, my grandfather planted all this bahia years ago and had hell getting it to take. Now we are fighting to get rid of it.

i sprayed msma over my yard broadcast the other day, and it is doing a good job. I like it because it will kill other grasses as well. Cimarron works good too, and will kill broadleaf weeds also. You need to fertilize and water if possible after a MSMA application
