Thoughts? Comments? First hand experience?

I am finally buying myself a non-stock *err...* stock for my AR

My tube is milspec, so either one will work, but I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons (and availability) of the two models.

I have the UBR - they have a proprietary buffer tube that comes with the stock BUT you must buy a carbine buffer and carbine buffer spring as the rifle buffer and rifle spring will not work. I ordered mine from DPMS for something like $20.

With that said I really do like the stock. Fits well and has some heft to it.

I still prefer the EMOD

But the UBR With storage compartment looks good

Ah, didn't know about the proprietary business, I must have gotten mixed up. My spring and buffer are carbine. I like the accessories for the UBR a lot.

I've had both...you're g2g w/ a carbine setup on either, the UBR comes w/ everything it needs that you don't already have. That being said, I like the consistent cheek weld of the UBR and it's heft...gives most ARs a good balance, but it really depends on the guns purpose. For me, the UBR ended up making that particular gun too heavy for what I wanted it used for. Ended up going w/ an ACE stock. I do like and still have my ACS though.

Do you happen to still have your UBR/do you know how much the ones at champions are?

If you have an M4 barrel go with the ACS. UBR is fairly heavy and balances 18+" barrels better.

Basically everyone else nailed it.

The UBR tube isn't really proprietary; it's just an entry length tube. The entry length is a carbine-length, rifle-style tube. Rock River uses them with their "shorty" A2 style stocks.

Log, which one do you prefer?

I no longer have my UBR. I actually traded it w/ my NFA dealer for a rimfire can. lol.

When Champion has them, they're somewhere around $230 or so. I'll go out on a limb here and to an extent, disagree w/ Log...
For what I wanted the UBR for (a 3-gun setup) I didn't like the way it weighed the gun down, even if it is a slightly longer, heavier bbl than an M4 setup. However, I do think it is ideal for an SPR type setup...something where the gun won't be ran w/ or moved around alot. I just didn't like it on the heavier gun when I had to be running &/or moving a lot with it.

I think the UBR is by far the better stock. Even on a 16" barrel you get much better cheek to stock weld and the ability to set the length of pull so it always goes to the same spot is nice.

Now if you are looking at an SBR the ACS or EMOD or something like that would work fine because your never really setting up for long shots with those type weapons.

Bingo!
That's why I have an ACS on my SBR. Simple, yet effective.
I do like my Ace on my 3 gun setup more than the UBR, for the reasons I mentioned above. For an SPR type setup...UBR, hands down.
