These are pictures of the buck taken on Mike Gibson's 50,000-acre JY Ranch
between Guthrie and Paducah . Mike had seen the deer over the last few years
and had been eyeing it until he grew to over 200. Mike shot this monster
buck with a open sight Sharps .45 cal. Rifle at 150 yards. What an
impressive shot! This is a free ranging deer. There are NO high fences
here. But I have a sneaky suspicion he does feed heavy protein year round.
The buck scored a 212 and has at least 18 scoreable points. Check out this
impressive monster.

Nice rifle (and deer).

I have one (rifle) just like it. I still need to figure out the Creedmore sight though, but intend to take it buffalo hunting one of these days.

Another, more-better pic of the rifle

I love the wood on that rifle - way nicer than mine.

But, I guess if you can afford 50,000 acres, getting a nice stock on a rifle probably isn't much of an issue.

I used to hunt on the JY ranch for a few years. Never saw anything that big.

BTW, it is the Masterson JY Ranch. I've never heard of a Mike Gibson JY Ranch.

Mike Gibson, the man in the picture, was manager of the 6666 Ranch at Guthrie for several years. His father, J.J. Gibson, was ranch manager for many years before that.

The deer was most likely killed on Mike Gibson's own ranch.

Anne Marion, sole heir/owner of the 6666 Ranch deeded the Gibson Ranch to that family for their many years of service to the Burnett family & the 6666's.

I believe the Gibson Ranch is part of the old Triangle Ranch, located between Guthrie & Paducah.

That ranch is the technically the JY Camp. It used to be part of the 6666's. The Masterson JY is a different place, but in the same general area. Big deer in that country. I don't know how, but they can really grow them.
