I was thinking about doing a little fishing at the pond behind the Bush Library Friday morning. Anyone catch any bass there and if so on what?

I caught something that looked like a shark with the face of Barney Frank. Tried to throw it back but it stole my wallet first.

I saw a kid with about an 8lb carp on a snoopy rod once at research. He would get it close to the bank and the fish would take off. Watched him for a while but he wasn't landing it w/o a net.

I caught three bass in there about 3 years ago. Give it a shot, it's catch and release only. I can't remember exactly what on, but i tried a little bit of everything.

Now that I have been gone for a few years I guess the cat can be let out of the bag. There are plenty of bass to be caught in research park and bush library. You can catch them on small white and chartreuse spinner baits at research park but live gold fish work best at bush library.
If you feel daring the ponds at bryan golf course hold big bass. Several in the 6-8 pound range were landing one spring. Grass frogs and worms worked best. The old arsnic (sp?) lake has tons of bass too. Me and a buddy once stood side by side never moved throwing crawfish ratltraps for 2 hours and landed 80 bass up to 3 pounds.
Urban fishing at it's finest.

fishing at research park is illegal, a good friend and his son were asked to leave after UPD stopped them.

Because I graduated already, Ill tell you.

The BEST place to fish is the north side between the two stone walls.

Cast about 5 feet from the bank where the wall on the left ends. And reel in them bass!

use Medium minnows. 8 gauge hooks. Bobber with about two feet of hang.

There is a shelf about 6-10 feet away from the bank and where the water pools. That is where the fish are.

george bush senior fishes here.Good luck have fun,

CATCH AND RELEASE WITH BARBLESS HOOKS!

The other best option is the FAR south end of the pond. where the bridge is, cast into the last water pumps and you should cash a few blue gills and some bass.

My Youngest caught this one by the rock walls on a shrimp about 8' off the edge.
