Does anyone know if there is a market for old, semi rusty tin, deer mounts etc. I see alot of this type of material in restaurants, and some in new houses for the "rustic" appearance. I will be tearing down some old, 1930 vintage sheds and was wondering if there is a better market than hauling it to the metal scrap yards. Also have some older deer mounts that I will be getting rid of soon.

Thanks for any input.

You could try craigslist. Also try local Chamber of Commerce. Someone owning a cafe soon or already owning one might be looking.

Try antique shops. Bbq joints love old deer mounts too.

Also, if it's a decent deer (antlers) they can be taken off the old mount and remounted with a new hide. My dad did this with a deer his grandfather shot as a gift to his mother, you wouldn't know that it was an old deer.

Where are these sheds located? I may be interested in some. Do you have any pics?

Is the wood reusable? (For aesthetics, not necessarily structure.)

Located in S Texas about 30 mi SE of Cotulla. I would guess the wood would still be usable since the sheds are still standing (just starting to look a bit ragged !)

Yes, there is a market for old tin and barnwood. I don't remember what it was selling for in Gonzales County a few years ago, but we had some guys demolish some really ratty barns and animal sheds on our property and they did it for the wood and tin. Deer mounts would probably sell on eBay or Craigslist

Brush,

You might try Discovery Architectural Antiques in Gonzales. www.discoverys.net/

If you get up this way let me know. I'd like to visit with you about the Eagle Ford.

Thanks guys...My plans are to start working on the demolition work as soon as it cools off--too many vermin in and around those sheds !!! I will keep all of your info for near future use. The deer heads will be available a little later, but all are S Texas deer, and they wouldnt have gotten mounted if not decent. I would guess they would average 140-145 ish. I will also keep your info handy. Again, thanks for your info...I'm in the planning stage for a bunch of this stuff.
