I have a buddy that wants to get his gun rechambered and the gunsmith he was going to use is out of commission for a while. We are looking for someone that does good work but this is not a top of the line custom rig.

Would prefer someone around Dallas, BCS, or somewhere in between.

I always take my guns to Elk Castle in Fort Worth. I don't know how their price compares to other gunsmiths because I have not shopped around. If their gun prices are any indication, they are probably on the higher end. However, they do good work.

I use Ray's Sporting Goods in Dallas. They have two gunsmiths on staff. Take the stairs on the left after you enter the store.

If you want someone in BCS, take it to Burdett and Sons. They are right there on Texas across from the campus' main entrance. They have done several trigger jobs for me and did a good job. I assume they do re-chamber work also.

Burdett is good for repairs and basic work. If you want something advaced...take it to someone who is a gunsmith that may dabble in other things, not a gun store that dabbles in gunsmithing. They will have your gun for quite a while if it's not a simple fix.

If bcs is cool for him i would definitely recommend bill wiseman. I got to check out his whole operation a while back and was absolutely stunned. Some of the stuff he makes for all the major players in the business really shocked me. His work is amazing. Some of the engineering and design that he does really left an impression. I had no idea that kind of work went on here. I will be having him make a rifle as soon as i decide what i want and can afford it.

I would like to 2nd Ray's Sporting Goods on Singleton in Dallas. Great folks that do great work. I bought a rifle there a couple years ago and they were extremely helpful and full of good information. Several of my buddies have had gunsmith work done there and have been really happy with the quality.

FWIW, I have had Wiseman rechamber a gun for me and he did excellent work.
