My brother is getting married in August and I’m in charge of organizing a bachelor’s party. I’m thinking about a guided fishing trip and would like some recommendations. Here are the stipulations:

1. Approximately 6 guys
2. Saltwater is the first choice if we could get a good deal in July
3. I do not want to travel further south of Corpus Christi
4. Most of the guys live in Dallas, so freshwater lakes around DFW are also being considered

Is inshore or offshore better for a first time saltwater fisher?

Who would you recommend for saltwater guides that are north of Corpus?

Who would you recommend for freshwater guides around DFW?

Nearshore, this time of year. You can catch kings, dolphin, ling, and other pelagics just a few miles out, and the latter two are DAMN TASTY.

You need to talk to duckguide on here. I'm sure he'd take care of your group. You might look at Capt. Chris Martin out of POC at Bayflats Lodge, too. Nice setup over there. DVM has fished with him many times, and always has good things to say about him. There are serveral lodges in Matagorda that are nice, too. Less of a crowd down there vs. POC or Galveston.

Just took a party of 6 on the water today. They were actually on their first leg of a bachelor party. It was a weird day with 30 mph North winds, then 30 mph west winds, calm, then 20 mph SE winds.....uuhhhh. Great group of guys but most had little saltwater experience and with the wind it was tough but they somehow managed some nice Redfish including an over sized, some solid specks and to complete the slam a fat 19" flounder. They are now drinking cold beer and headed to their real party destination. I would be glad to take yall out for some fun before he gets grounded. Just let me know.

We went to Lake Calcasieu and stayed/fished with Lake Calcasieu Charters for my bachelor party. We caught over 400 Specs in two days plus 25 Red fish and 3 massive black drum. The lodge is first class and the price was right. We fished 2 days with the guides there and they were great.

I went with TexAg0308 to Lake Calcasieu and the trip was incredible. Top notch accomodations, guides, gear and fishing. Been to alot of bachelor parties and this one was hands down the best. The lake (which is really a bay) is only about 4 hrs from CS. You can't go wrong with this trip, and July is prime time.

Yes they cut us a deal for fishing two days plus staying at the lodge. We brought our own food and drinks to the lodge so that helped out not having to pay for them providing the food. Dad cooked 3 briskets and a ton of sausage. We ate sandwiches for lunch on the boats. We had 21 guys go on the trip so they cut us a sweet deal. I think we payed 400 or 450 a man. Plus guide tips and a 20 dollar wager. 10 for the biggest red and 10 for the biggest trout. I don't know the actual price because my best man paid for me. Texagbowhunter should remember better the price. Stay in the lodge it is absolutely worth it!

If I remember correctly, we paid $400 per person, and it was worth every penny. The lodge is much fancier than I could have imagined, and part of the price was pitching in for food and beverages. So for $400 we got two full days of fishing, unlimited food and drinks, incredible memories, and 4 or 5 gallon ziplocks stuffed with filets. We actually developed a lasting friendship with our guides, and took them out one night when they were in CS for fire school. Overall it may seem a bit pricey, but oftentimes guided trips don't meet expectations...this one did. Besides, best friends only get married once (hopefully).

I'd like to fish with DG. I coached a kid in Rockport,(He won FLW Big un 2 years ago), and I get to go free,no brainer. Todd Adams. David Neselony should be good too. He married my #1 girl, and played pretty good basketball. Todd's team went to state 2 years in a row.
