Anyone on the OB have one of these? Do they make higher capacity mags for them already? Are they as "upgradeable" as AR15's/AR10's?

Any pro's or con's about these?

I have been leaing towards buying an AR10 but now that Remington has the R25 in .243 & .308, they really caught my eye.

The R-15 is a Bushmaster ar-15. The R-25 is a DPMS .308...so you can do anything to them you can do to a Bushy or DPMS. Remington is owned by the same holding company that owns Bushmaster and DPMS.

Just an FYI...when you say AR-10, most people know that to be an Armalite. They do things a little different over there and some/most AR-10/Armalite parts and pieces dont fit the rest of the AR world. They are also jackasses...

yep any ar mag for the 15 and a DPMS mag for the 25

yep....The R25 isn't a bad price but you can do much better than the R15 if buy just an AR15. The camo is kinda kewl.

I took a look at both the R-15 and R-25 at Gander a couple of weeks ago and can honestly say that I was not impressed. The camo dip was already dinged up, and some of the aftermarket parts they use (float tube) wasn't that nice. Granted, they have probably been handled alot, but if the finish can't stand up to sitting on a rifle rack, how do you think it is going to perform in the field? You could do a much better job building or buying your own and hitting it with a can of spraypaint. You're going to pay a premium for the Remington name, so I'd go with a Bushmaster or RRA. Even in that case, you going to pay more for the Bushmaster name than the RRA, and the consensus is that the RRA is a better rifle.

It's probably the same 2 stage you can get in the Bushy's...

I bought the R-15 a month ago and love it. I've been shooting the cheap Wolf .223s out of it and it shoots very well with no problems. I put a Leupold Vari X III scope on it and can group 5 shots within 2 inches at 100 yards (not great, but good enough). Only drawback for me is the barrel is a 1 in 9 twist - thus limiting me to lighter grain bullets (or so I've been told).

I'm letting my 15 year old shoot it this weekend for deer and I wanted an 80 grain bullet but have been told that 50 grain is the max for this twist (50 grain soft point). Otherwise, the gun is great. I paid $1,099 for it at Gander and they had it on sale last week for $1,050 so they gave me a $50 gift card (spent on shells). I also saw this same gun for sale in Madison, WI (home of all the liberals) for $999 2 weeks ago.

I've shot the comparable Bushmaster rifle before and loved it. I really want one.

Pilot,

With a 1in9 twist, you should be able to go up to 69gr w/o a problem. Any heavier than that and you will probably start experiencing keyholing. The 55gr limit is w/ 1in12 guns such as the older Ruger Mini-14s (I believe even the new Minis have a 1in9).
