I'm sure we have folks on here on both sides of the fence, but if you haven't heard, here's an update.

"Our nation’s continued prosperity hinges on our ability to solve environmental problems and sustain the natural resources on which we all depend.” John McCain November 22, 1996
"I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use our natural resources, but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob by wasteful use, the generations that come after us."
- Theodore Roosevelt, speech, Washington, D.C., 1900

Until Dallas learns how to conserve - they will get no sympathy from anyone.

Besides that, the Neches river bottom is a wild and wooly place and it needs to stay that way.

I agree. Pretty sad when >60% of water usage is going to maintain lawns.

I live about 5 miles from the Neches. One thing we do not need is a new reservoir. I know a lot of pissed of bass fishermen. Fugg em. I like to get on it in my pirogue for bass, catfish and ducks.

I am gonna agree with Terlinga,

after living in Dallas for four years now, I cannot believe how people waste water around here. I can't tell you how many sprinkler systems I see that are watering the street at 3pm in the afternoon, or people with a drive way that is barely big enough for an accord that use the water hose to wash it off. It is just sad that the drought from two years ago didn't teach people anything.

Ohh and Ursus, most of that water going to maintain lawns end up as evaporation or runoff, a complete waste, they should mandate drip irrigation in new construction.

AggieGunslinger, oh trust me, I know and preach it on a regular basis. I've annoyed the Region C water folks more than once at public hearings.

Another loss for Rick Perry.....at least for now.

The Neches corridor is the one of the least appreciated and most ecologicaly valuable areas in the state.
