My ole lady and I are going to Inks lake for spring break with our girlfriend's and he wanted to know if anyone has a reliable fishing report for Inks lake. Anyone have any leads?

I sure have some cherished memories from my boyhood of stomping around Inks Lake State Park. It was one of my families favorite spots. I dont have a fishing report for you, but have fun.

Usually the texas parks and wildlife website's fishing reports for lakes will have info.

I'm willing to bet if you drive up into the river channel towards the buchanan dam, you will bag whites and cats, and even a few bass, like I did last year.

Go fishing near the dam.

If you want to stay in the par, try the creek channel near the Devil's Waterhole. Additionally, there are two fishing piers in the park, but I have had limited success on both.

Unrelated: Take your swimsuits and hike up the trail past the Devil's Waterhole and swim in the pools that form in the creek.

Yep, that's what I did last year...right below the waterfall. Actually, sitting in the waterfall gives you a nice shoulder massage...

Did summer camp up there, cant recommend the fishing but skiing, sun tans, and R&R are teh way to go on Inks. Just kick back with a frosty beverage and enjoy your company

sip is on Inks. Champions is on LBJ. Try minnows below dams. I caught a few once below the dam at Inks Lake State Park, March, 1982.

Not to high-jack the thread, but since Camp Champions came up, do any of you guys know the Baskin brothers that own Camp Champions?....I think they own Camp Balcones on Lake Travis also. I was going to send my niece there. They seem like OK guys.

Catfishing is good as soon as they quit generating at Buchanan Dam, and I have had some friends that do pretty well for striper while they are generating.

two questions:

1. Your friends that striper fish, do they bank fish near the dam or do they use a boat?

2. How do you find out the generating schedule and where do you fich for cats when they are not generating?

My buddies fish both ways for strippers, on the bank and in boats. Now I fish almost exclusivly on Granger Lake for catfish. Set new lake record for bluecat on Feb. 12. 37#. Water is warming up and spawn is fixing to be on in shallow water. Been catching a few nice channels in 18" of water. Good luck.

Two ways to fish for strippers??

1. Go to strip club and wave $20 bills around, they will bite.

2. If you did not catch one using method #1, you can troll for them by taking off your pants and walking backwards with your bait hanging down. But be careful, you might also catch some "bonefish" like this as well!!
