How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
I have a standard A2.

I have this Carry Handle Scope Mount:
http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0031468227391a.shtml

I want to mount this scope:
http://www.swfa.com/pc-4304-231-super-sniper-10x42-30mm-rifle-scope.aspx

What other particulars do I need or need to know?

Thanks for helping out the FNG.

You need a set of rings and a mount. You probably want to go with a quick detach set up. There are several on the market and it depends on what you want to do with it as to how much you want to spend.

I'd definitely like to go quick detach, but I don't really know enough about it to know exactly what I need.

What rings would you suggest?

Well, what do you mean by "what you want to do with it"? This setup is really so that I can be very accurate out to 300 yards or so. As for what I'd like to spend, I guess this is probably a bad answer, but I want as high a quality as I can get for the least price.

I'd probably be willing to spend $100 on rings.

LaRue Tactical are some of the best rings and mounts in the AR market. They have quick detach setups.

Edit: Most weaver style rings will fit that base, but make sure they sit level. They only run about $30 for rings, and even cheaper depending on brand.

I know little about ARs, but I have heard that if you want consistent accuracy from a scoped carry handle, you will want to use a bedding to secure the mount to the carry handle. This has been done with great success and you can search around for kits. The downside is that it will permenantly secure the mount to the carry handle. The only other option I could recommend is using loctite on all the screws of the mount.

Get some very low rings. In this setup the scope will be so high that the slightest cant will really affect your accuracy. I guess "very accurate" is relative, but if you want to go sub .75 moa you may want to get a scope level.

I don't think you need detachable rings, the base you have is detachable.

I've bedded these type of bases with just a little bit of JB weld front and back. I used Imperial Sizing Wax, just because I had some, as a release agent on the carry handle.

So would these rings work?

As far as accuracy, I'd like to be able to make a head or neck shot on a deer at 300 yards. I know, if I was worth a damn, I could do it with iron sights, but I'm not and want to.

I'll tackle the bedding issue after I get the setup.

What kind of AR?

If I may, why put makeup on donkey?

Why not buy a new A3 receiver and switch everything out?

Sell the A2 and the mount and end up with a gun that will shoot MOA out to 300 yards.

Because I also have an A3 that I will be rigging up, but for a different purpose.

I like the classic look of the A2 and want to get a little more accuracy out of it (more than what the shooter can provide without enhancement).

It's legos and this is what I want now. Later, I may want something different.

IMHO, those rings are way too tall for an A2 setup. Those are really designed for a flattop.

Could someone link me to some "shorter" rings?

Sorry, I'm just not very knowledgable about rings and stuff. This is the first time I've ever done anything but a plain old deer rifle.

You want to shoot deer at 300 yards with a .223?

Or are you talking about an AR10 / .308 rifle?

I'd like that kind of accuracy. I wouldn't ever actually take that shot.

What about these rings:

The 2nd set looks like they'ed be about right. You'll want the scope to be just off the mount.

The ones I've used with an A2 are some cheap Weaver Extension style. They put the scope in a decent position since you'll also want it far forward, but they may not be the quality you want. You can see them pictured here about half way down on the left:
http://www.weaver-mounts.com/products/detachableTopMount.aspx

The only reason I scope my A2s is for load development, since I use irons for highpower comp; just to let you know my application is a little different than yours.
