My black lab is named Coal.

The chocolate lab we were supposed to get was named Lignite.*

Only mining people will fully appreciate the coolness of those two names.






*Chocolate lab was selected but before we got to pick him up at 6 weeks a rabid skunk got into the litter and killed several of the puppies before the mom killed it. All the puppies had to be put down.

As a living tribute to Lignite (peace be upon him) I’ll let you use his name for your dog.

I think an easy single syllable name is best, in case the dog is hard headed, you don’t want to be hollering “SnuggleMuffinBubuTootles” out across the field all day. Something like Rex, Pete, Jack, etc… Don’t name your dog “digger” either. If you have to go chasing him through your neighborhood, you might sound like a racist calling out the minority neighbors…

Rest in peace, buddy. I miss ya. Lost my Dutch to lymphoma last year. BTHO cancer.

BTW, "Dutch" is the best dog name ever. HTH!
