Hi, I'm playing now and stuck in the mines trying to use a sonic blast somehow on the damaged plasteel cylinder. I can't get it open. I'm trying to get a droid close enough & then use a sonic grenade or detanator on the droid (since I can't target the cylinder with the grenade) but no luck. Is this cylinder important? Do I need to go get something else and come back? I've already been warned to hurry up in the mines. Thanks!

Though I only got it yesterday. As me again next month when I should be on KOTOR2.

I am not sure if it is the same canister, but there is one that requires you to use 3 spikes on a terminal in the middle of a bridge. This is on the bridge where you use the terminal to deactivate the forcefields that hold back all those robots. Hope this helps. Can you elaborate on the location of this canister?

It's just called "damaged cylinder" due to the mine explosions and the notes tell you that a sonic explosion would open it. It's near the end of the mines by the turbolift to I think the fuel depot. I gave up on it and moved on though (but I did save by its location so I could go back).

I can't wait to get this game... but I should probably finish the original KOTOR first. I picked it up used for $15 two months ago, but then Halo 2 came out...

I am past that point I am afraide, and I didn't save prior to leaving that area. I will be starting a new character this weekend since I underestimated the importance of the security skill so early in the game. I will let you know if I have better luck with that canister.

I've moved past it too (I'm now on the Harbringer (Republic ship docked to mining base). Why do you need security? Can't you do like the last game and beef up your other characters skills so one is good at Computers & repair and another at demo & security? What skills should I be dumping points into?

I just prefer for my main character to have security. There were a few places at the beginning that I couldn't go since I didn't train in it. The game recommended repair skill, but I found myself needing it less than security. I am sure I would be fine without it, but I would rather be able to pick locks than repair the occasional droid or control panel.

Repair helps you break down mechanical items just like treat injury helps you break down & build medpaks.

Ok...got into the damaged plasteel cylinder. I set a sonic mine on the lock. I recieved an adrenal strength, energy shield, adrenal alacrity, and 139 credits.
