Have a Alienware laptop that is about 5 years old. Running windows 11. Have power saving hibernate turned off, just screen going off.

Recently, a problem is developing that I will come in from over night and it is on but will not wake up. In that case I turn it off by the power button, it boots but goes to the recovery screen. If I select turn off there it will go off then turn on and boot up normally with the power button.

Second scenario is that I come in and it is already at the recovery screen. Same outcome, select turn off, turn back on and it boots up normally. This is a newer situation.

Both are becoming more frequent.

Any thoughts on causes and potential actions to resolve?

Export the event viewer logs and throw them into AI and ask to analyze. They might find you something.

I dont know anything specific to that, but a failing battery can do weird things. Have you tried leaving it on cord power with the battery removed?

Claude suggested that. Will do it when I get back to town.

It stays plugged in 95% of the time. I don't think the battery is removable.

A laptop with a non-removable battery? That would be bizarre.

I rarely encounter laptops these days with removable batteries. All of my company-issued laptops (Dell Latitude and some HP models) have all had non-removable batteries.
