Well I bit the bullet and just ordered the new M5 Max 128G. Damn you apple for making the ultra 96G.

I purposely ignored the ai hobby until a few months ago.....and now I'm paying the price (today's prices) for not jumping in a few years ago.

You can either just have the LLM local or you can set it up to connect to it remotely. I got a 36GB M3 Ultra Studio on refurbishment before everything went insane and I just have ollama setup to allow for connections on my LAN and then run the mac studio headless with the rest of my home lab setup. OpenClaw and opencode are just set up to connect to the IP/port instead of finding the model locally, and nothing else really runs on the mac studio.

yep. pretty much.

I'm ordering the lighter version of the studio. Are they coming out next week or later?

My M1 mini is starting to drag a bit but will make a nice upgrade for my Logic Pro studio setup.
