Has anyone tried this? The free playtest is out yesterday and the game launches in Early Access on 9/10.

It took me a little getting used to, but if you were a fan of PUBG, Battlefield, Tarkov this one is really fun and rewarding at times (and frustrating at others).

The map is 3 teams of 33 players each who start at their bases pretty much equidistant from the Control Zone.

You take Little Birds, blackhawks, or other vehicles and drop into the combat zone where you earn cash (which are used to purchase loadouts and equipment). You also earn cash for things like killing enemies, scouting them with binoculars, reviving teammates, destroying vehicles, etc. Every 30 seconds, the team with the most players occupying the combat zone earn $$ and receive a point. The first team to 100 points wins the game.

The combat zone moves slightly throughout the game, but inside the combat zone is the HVZ (the high-value zone) where each player inside counts double towards your total team count in the CZ. This zone moves more quickly than the control zone, so it forces teams to move instead of just camping out and allows teams to gain momentum if they are getting worked in the early part of the game if they can stick together and roll the zone.

The money that you earn stays with you even if you quit the game or lose, so you constantly accumulate it for things like unlocks and getting better gear, attachments, armor, kits, etc.

The cost of dying is steep since it will take you a minute or two to gear back up and catch a vehicle to get back to the CZ, so it causes players to act very tactically and slowly, which makes for very rewarding gameplay.

You can try it out for free until launch.

ETA: It looks like you might have had to have set up a request for the playtest prior to yesterday to play. I have one invite if anyone thinks they will use it this weekend to check it out.

I've been playing it and really like it. The game is well designed it is really cool that you can play the way you want to play.

One thing I loved about Gray Zone Warfare was the helicopter ride in because it felt more immersive. This takes it even further by having actual players flying the helicopters in and out of the control zone.
