Were you using an internet browser? Now there is a standalone app.

A real app can do a few extra things that are difficult or impossible for a bookmarked webpage to do. In short, your bookmark will continue to work as it has. If you want some extra features the app can be downloaded from the app store.

Frankly, if it's confusing and you're not really into all of this stuff or you're happy with the way things are, just leave it how it is because it's a familiar flow to you. Features of the app aren't going to blow your mind.

are you sure you weren't on the beta program/app? It's been a long time and I had forgotten that the app was actually beta all this time until I saw the recent announcement.

It's been a while since using the mobile site myself, but notifications, PiP, and watchlist are the things that I remember. It also keeps it out of mixing with other browser tabs and has it as a standalone item that you can open/close.

I'm 69 years old so definitely in the old man category. I downloaded the app but don't see anything I need that I can't get b6 using a browser.

It's a faster browsing experience. Also notifications.

Okay. Downloaded app. Go to politics board and it tells me no access because I'm not a subscriber. Never have been.

Same on any board. Currently asks for $4.75/m to get the basic subscription on the website. Didn't look any further, don't need another app.

An app for an internet forum sounds super sketchy especially when you can just use a browser like Brave Browser to view the forum and block all the annoying ads.

TexAgs is more than just a forum. :shrug:

I get PM notifications which can be important (buying/selling tickets) as I'm not surfing TA every waking moment.

Obviously forum reply notifications are important for winning internet arguments!

Eh, blocking ads is more important for me. Also, if texags bothered to update their forum website code, they could totally add notifications for posts to the browser version of the forum.

Yes, we're on! LOL I can reply now instead of whenever I open up the website again.

I get that the user experience isn't perfect especially for those unable or unwilling to pony up for paid access, but I would still much rather read the forum on an app on my phone.
