I'm having problems with my MSFT account and need some one off help with it. I use apple products, and I think that is relevant. I'm getting a notice that says "Your account can view documents, but it doesn't allow editing on a Mac..." and I've tried everything (deleting stored password files, the MSFT tool, etc.) so I think its time to ask for some help. Anybody think they can help me fix this? I'm happy to pay market rate for your services.

Thank you!

If you have a Mac & MS Office with a "perpetual license", Microsoft is no longer keeping them perpetual. They want to push people to MS Office 365 subscriptions:

I've switched to FreeOffice, which looks exactly like MS Office (even the ribbon toolbar) & has the best file-format compatibilty among the free ones. It's better than LibreOffice in my opinion.

Microsoft 365 Business Standard

It's got to be something with my cache because I had an old Mac mini laying around so I plugged it in and it worked fine.

Yes. I finally rid myself from Microsoft -- no more login accounts & license B.S.

I assume you are using the installed applications and not web based?

I don't know Macs much, but I can web edit on a Linux OS with my work account just fine, have you tried to see if you can edit in web office?

As far as alternatives, LibreOffice, Open Office is another. Then you can use Google web based office apps.

I am not even getting web based email updates for outlook. That's a problem.

Then it sounds very much like your account is the problem.

It shouldn't matter what system (windows, linux, mac, etc) you are on, if you go to https://outlook.office.com/ and you aren't getting emails, it has to be your account.

I assume that is the same for the rest of your employees?

I had a client once who was not receiving any email in their Office 365 account. It turned out that he had been hacked, and the hacker had set up a rule to forward all of his email to themselves and then delete it. Check to make sure you don't have any rules set up in your Office 365. At this point, I would probably go ahead and open a ticket with Microsoft and get them to help you troubleshoot it. They are surprisingly quick to respond, at least in my experience.
