Switching Monitors Between Desktop & Laptop

I'm trying to figure out the easiest option for switching a set of 3 monitors between my desktop and work laptop (only rarely use the laptop at home). Right now I have two monitors with both displayport and hdmi connections and the third has hmdi and vga (using DP for 2 and hdmi to dvi for another is what worked for my desktop). I've been considering upgrading the third monitor to have more options though.

The monitors are currently plugged into my dekstop, but I was provided a dell wd22tb4 thunderbolt dock for the laptop. Moving the 3 monitor connections back and forth between the desktop and dock isn't that difficult, but I'm trying to see if there is a better option that makes sense financially.

My desktop doesn't have a thunderbolt (or any usb-c) connection currently (would be interested in possibly changing that), so I don't think there is any way to just switch the dock connection back and forth. Is my only other option a KVM switch or something like that? Seems like the extra equipment and cables may not be worth it for the limited amount of time I need to switch to the laptop.

I use a USB hub together with a USB switch. Works the same as a KVM. But of mine are Plugable brand. Here is their switch, one or the images shows the mapping of the connections.
