This could be huge. The ROG handhelds are so much more powerful than the steamdecks but have been very limited due to having to run windows. Can't wait to see the performance and battery life while running a dedicated OS on them.

People probably choose the Legion Go or ROG Ally because they don't want to be limited to just purchasing games on Steam, this wouldn't solve that problem.

If you can dual boot, it's pretty much the best of both worlds

Not a bad idea, but you'll probably want to upgrade the internal storage.

They should make a controller with the Steam Deck input controls and release SteamOS for PCs.

That is probably pretty doubtful as getting pc parts to work with the OS, drivers, chipsets ect is not a small task. Also this will cannibalize windows/linux users running a perfectly working steam application, so there is very little to gain.

Can't you do this already by installing Bazzite? What does Bazzite lack?

Umm, this is what they did about 10 years ago. They've been iterating every since, and the handheld is the latest that finally took off and got widespread adoption

Or is my sarcasm meter broken?

The handheld operating system adds overlays that previous SteamOS builds used on the HTPC devices didn't have and the compatability layer has gotten a lot better with Linux. The Steam Controller has dual touchpads, only a single analog stick, no D-Pad, and no rear buttons.

Just started fiddling with it this week, but Bazzite appears to have resolved the OS side of things.

If Valve took the design/inputs of the DualSense Edge and made the back buttons/profile buttons assignable to button presses other than the face buttons it'd do what I want out of a Steam controller.
