Nintendo Switch not connecting to TV

So I've tried everything. Different HDMI ports…different cables….this weird power cycle/cord plug in specific order that some folks on Reddit swore would work….checked for updates….nothing works.

The switch itself is working fine as a hand held no one has noticed any issues with it and we've just kept it downstairs for a long time. Took it upstairs to the dock for the first time in about 3-4 months and all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore with the tv.

When I select the HDMI port on input I do see where it's like the tv "knows" it's connected to the switch but can't see an image…..says, "No Signal - NintendoSwitch"

Only thing I can think of is it's either the switch itself or the dock.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem. I even bought a second dock to troubleshoot that didn't work. The HDMI out of the USB-C was broken somehow

Ultimately I had to contact Nintendo support for help. They recommended only using official Nintendo cables and docks, otherwise they couldn't guarantee performance. Didn't matter for me. I sent it in for repairs, They didn't repair it and instead sent me a new Switch. So backup any games before you send it in. I don't think it cost me anything.

Buy a second dock is my last ditch effort before I contact Nintendo. When you bought a second one was it an off brand or was it the standard Nintendo dock?

Did you test on a different TV first?

I bought an off brand before contacting them. When I contacted Nintendo they wanted me to check on a second official Nintendo dock because they can only support their own equipment. I had my son try it on one of his friend's official docks.

Sorry I can't help with this particular issue but I had a similar issue when I bought mine. I ended up discovering that the switch for some reason wasn't compatible with all TVs. I have a Samsung in the house that it won't keep a steady connection to, it just flickers. I only use it as a handheld due to that issue. I tried it on another tv and it worked fine but not on the tv I wanted to use it with.

Look up how to clean your switch on YouTube. We had a similar problem, and the issue was the USB port on the bottom just needed to be cleaned.

Its worked on this tv a bunch before (Vizio) without issues so unfortunately it's not that nothing has changed on the tv

Contact cleaner in a can? Great to have around for any electrical cleaning.
