Something in the $500-$1,000 range? I hate small screens, so would get one in the 17" range. Make sure it has an SSD so it boots fast.

Outside of that, the specs would come down to what you want to do with it. It's usually important to provide your budget.

All depends on budget. If you can spend 1000ish it's tough to beat a Mac for build quality, ease of use, etc.
