I picked up a series X on new years and got the xbox ultimate game pass. My wife wants to play GTA with me at the same time so I bought a second one so we can each play at the same time. Do I need to buy a second copy for her console in order for us to both play?


Related question. Is there a work around for us to both be able to use the Game Pass Ultimate subscription on both consoles?

Ahhh I was so close!

If you bought a hard copy, no, you cannot share that. But if you bought it digitally then yes. MS has documentation on how it's done.

In short, if you bought the game in your account, make your wifes Xbox the home console for YOUR account. That console can now play any game your account purchases. You will, at the same time, be able to play GTA on the other console because that's the one your gamer profile will be signed into.

Follow up on my previous email.... I forgot that GTA is currently on Gamepass. But the cool thing is that Gamepass will work on both consoles in the exact way I described above.

Since Gamepass being tied to YOUR account, make YOUR home console your wife's Xbox. That machine will always have access to all of your games as well as Gamepass privileges (even when you are not signed onto that machine).

For the console you play on it's no problem because as soon as you sign in, that console will inherit all of your privileges too.

We do this in my house... my son's Xbox is MY howe console. This allows us to share my gamepass and my game library between the 2 systems.
