After years of using my kids hand me down laptops, everyone is edumacted and I'm getting a new laptop. The inherited laptops were always loaded with pesky things from them downloading whatever I don't even want to know.

May question is, do I need an add on virus/firewall or whatever program? Or does Windows have enough protections built in? I'm not as tech savvy as I once was so thanks in advance.

Honestly, I think Windows works just fine, but I would look at getting an antivirus software if you frequently visit sketchy sites. I would also consider an antivirus if you are not the best at detecting scams.

Thanks. Sketchy sites aren't really an issue. But sometimes curiosity wins lol.

I just reinstall the OS on my laptops from time to time.

If it will primarily be a web browsing rig, consider an alternate (Linux-based) OS like Ubuntu. Your chances of getting pwned go down exponentially when you avoid Windows altogether.
