I try to unload phones every 2 years or so. From the past decade, that seems to be the best way to get my moneys worth in terms of "trade in" and keep the phone in decent shape.

We always get pro models. Anyone know if AT&T will have any deals on BOGO or Trades? Where can I watch for these things? Slickdeals ?

Yea, I just got the bill credit added to my AT&T account for trading in my 12 Pro Max. Ain't bad when you upgrade every 3 years.

I didn't even look. Lol.

Usually they send me an email. The last credit thing I got from them was a mess. I had to call repeatedly to get the credit. Lol. It was a train wreck.

Yea, the most annoying thing about the credits is I usually have to call to get them applied correctly. I traded in a 12 Pro for $800 of bill credits over 36 months and picked up the 15 Pro Max.

Yeah they took my trade-in and then gave me 1/6 of the value, then added credits in lump, and then took them away...and for me to track the error I have to literally have 24 months of PDF bills open on my screen. Plus, there is no verification of the actual trade-in. It's a huge mess. They want me to produce the 'promo' I was emailed 2 years ago. There is nothing but a tracking number proving I sent in my TWO phones. That's how they cheat you.

It's frustrating. Plus, I don't know how to get an American call center with an old American dude named Dave. That's who I need to get help from.

Don't know if they have any deals for iPhones but bestbuy did an instant trade in for my on my pixel last year where they refunded me part of my preorder while I was in store. It was much better than going through att.

Might be better off to just go to Apple directly. I no longer mess with phone companies for stuff like this because of the story you shared. They will do what they can to f* you. Apple is much easier to deal with directly and it also allows you to be agnostic of the main phone companies.

I'm on Mint paying about a third of what I would pay for AT&T and then getting deals directly through Apple for phones saves me much more money, time, and stress.

I can't figure out a good value for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and my iPhone 13 Pro. Botha Re in perfect condition other than normal wear and tear. Th ey have had glass screen protectors and cases literally since they were removed from their factory packaging. I don't mess around. Both are base models. But I can keep my AT&T credits until the expire if I sell these on eBay and buy a new one form Apple. Lol. That's actually probably what I'll do if I can get 600 for my old used ones.

Apple will give you $580 and $480 for those based on their website.

I did my trade in through Apple but got the $800 of bill credits from AT&T. Hit the finance option and it will show you what all the carriers are offering.

Ordering and the trade in process were much smoother going through Apple than having to order through AT&T.

But if I go through apple, does it STAY at Apple and completely outside of AT&T? In other words, is it basically a discount on the new phone at the store?

Yes, although it couldn't be picked up in store… had to be delivered.

Probably won't mess with it. Honestly, the trade in values are nice and all, but two phones even with trade-in is still stupid expensive and a poor financial decision for an incremental upgrade. With Iphones, I feel like you need to upgrade every 5 years to see a real upgrade.

AT&T can figure out how to eat my phone cost or I'll just use this one until it won't power on anymore. I only feel like I get my money's worth because I am on a grandfathered AT&T Unlimited HotSpot plan and burn through a TB of their cell data every month with streaming services. LOL.

I miss the old school days of phone subsidies.
